Erythromycin

Erythromycin is most widely used to treat a large number of bacterial infections, the most common being acne. Erythromycin is available as both a topical medication, and oral treatment, used to treat bodily infections. There are several chemical forms of Erythromycin, however, it is thought to be one of the few prescription acne solutions safe to take during pregnancy or when breastfeeding. (It is still highly advisable to consult a doctor prior to use, especially if pregnant).

While the exact way in which Erythromycin works to fight acne is not entirely known, it is believed that its antibacterial properties are the leading reason for its success as an acne solution.
